The Spore Colony is the counter to the Sunken Colony and helps against enemy air units. These structures fire very quickly and can do considerable damage to low armored air units. Spore Colonies are also detector units much like the Overlords and will expose both hidden ground and air enemies. Combining Spore Colonies with Sunkens is a typical Zerg defense.
