The Terrans should hold a special place in everyone's heart, if only because they're our only humanoid cousins. The units are no less potent than those of the other two species. Many StarCraft players prefer to use Terran when attacking an enemy and avoid them for base defending purposes. Handled properly, the Terrans are a formidable force.

Construction

The Terrans construct their buildings the simply way. An SCV will begin constructing a structure and will remain on the site until the job is finished. If the SCV is killed or halts the process, the building will remain unoperational until another SCV finishes the site.

Expansion

Many Terran buildings have a lift off feature that allows the building to hover in the air. Although the structure cannot perform any of its normal functions while in the air and moves very slowly, this does allow a player to move most of their base to another location. This has several uses: one being evacuating the area if it becomes under heavy attack. The Command Center can also be moved to another location when the SCVs deplete all the recources. Another tactic is to move it to a high ground area or island at the start of the game where the enemy can only get to you with air units.

Recovery

Terran units cannot recover on their own like the other races can. SCVs can be used to repair mechanical units and Medics are used to heal infantry. However, buildings that have less than 1/3 of their full health (the red zone) due to damage will continue to burn and eventually explode if not repaired. This means SCVs have to immediately repair badly damaged buildings. When repairing, the SCV will use some resources to restore the unit. To repair a unit from 1 Hit Point to full health will cost 1/3 of the units building costs over the time it takes to build the unit. For an example, when fully repairing a Siege Tank, the SCV will use 50 Minerals and 33 Gas over 50 seconds. Repairing is much quicker than the passive recovery of other races, which is good for small games. However in large games repairing an entire army can be time consuming and require lots of micro management.
